Our website can confirm that two first class facilities are being setup in Arua and Wakiso Districts. This comes as good news as the country also awaits the completion of Nakivubu war memorial Stadium being renovated by businessman commonly known as Ham. These facilities will not only greatly improve on the talents of the children in these areas but also provide jobs and government revenue.
Uganda currently has only two well-constructed stadiums Mandela National Stadium and St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende. However, the home of StarTimes Uganda premier league current champions Vipers SC, St Mary’s Stadium is currently the only pitch that meets the international required standards after Mandela National Stadium, Namboole was proved Substandard by CAF/FIFA inspectors.
Arua Hill Stadium and Business Park
The Arua City Council availed 9.7 acres of land to Joadah consultants Limited in 2018 who were to use UGX20 Billion to accomplish the job of constructing a stadium and business park. Joadah consultants Limited will manage the facility for 49 years before handing it over to the Arua City Council. The facility is to comprise a 20,000-seater multipurpose stadium, shopping units, restaurant, guest house and parking yard and was expected to be ready by December 2020 however because of the COVID-19 pandemic this may take longer. Joel Aita, an engineer with Joadah Consultants, says the development is aimed at fulfilling Arua city status.
Unknown Stadium.
A modern football Stadium is also being constructed at Katebe Bugabo Village, on Garuga road in Katabi Sub county in Busiro County, Wakiso District
The Football facility under construction, is anticipated to be the best in the country after completion. The name of the facility and the person behind this project are still not clear with some sources mentioning David Kikomeko, who is based in South Africa as the brains behind the project.
Once completed, the stadium will be able to accommodate a football pitch, running track, four training grounds, tennis courts, volleyball courts and netball court as well as an Olympic size swimming pool.
