Uganda Cranes and Vipers forward Fahad Aziz Bayo has completed a move to Israel Premier League side, Ashdod SC. The deal is believed to be a four-year contract ending in 2024.
The talisman joins former KCCA FC and Kibuli S.S defender Timothy Awanyi at the Dolphins and becomes the second Ugandan to join the Israel club in a period of just two summers.
Bayo signed for Vipers SC last year from Zambia’s Buildcon and put up a scintillating performance as the Venoms claimed the 2019/20 UPL title. He was the second-highest scorer in the league with 12 goals while providing 6 assists.
Bayo, who had one year left on his employment contract with Vipers is happy for this new challenge and belives with a Ugandan on the team it will not take him long to settle in and start bunging in the goals at Yud-Alef stadium. "This is a stepping stone for me and I expect to be in one of the top Europen leagues in the next few years," said the powerful forward.
Onyango's Sundowns, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, Moroccan record champions Wydad Casablanca, Algerian side Entente Sportive Setif (ESS), and Tanzanian side Azam FC are the other sides that have in the past months expressed interest in signing the Vipers number 9.
Winger William Kizito Luwagga is another Uganda Cranes player who plays in the Israel Premier League with Hapoel Kfar Saba.
The former Proline FC striker also scored four goals in the seven games for the Uganda National team, The Cranes, including one against Malawi in the AFCON qualifiers at Namboole.
Ashdod SC finished 10th on the Israel Premier league log having garnered 28 points in 26 games.
